11 billion euros for non-university research in 2011

The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of 6% compared with 2010.

In the same period, the number of people working in these research and development institutions (full-time equivalents) rose by 3.5% to 93,700.

Almost half of the expenditure for non-university research, that is, 5.3 billion euros or 47.9%, was in the area of natural sciences.
