Selective Carrier-facilitated Extraction of Carbohydrates from Aqueous Solutions
Recovery of carbohydrates from aqueous media is a difficult separation problem, due to their large, irregular and multivalent structure and their low solubility in organic solvents. A method for selective extraction of neutral mono- and disaccharides from aqueous media using liquid-liquid-extraction with an organic solvent or an ionic liquid and an amine as carrier has been developed.
