Novel miRNA biomarker and treatment of memory impairment
Age associated dementia consist a serious health and social problem for our society, with their prevalence increasing as lifespan expands. Efficient therapeutic strategies to treat memory decline are still missing. Scientists of the University of Göttingen have now developed a new biomarker and medical approach for treatment of dementia and of other memory impairment conditions. This includes discovery of a new microRNA (miRNA) biomarker associated with learning and memory and its therapeutic manipulation, in particular to rescue learning impairment in dementia.
