Comexposium to hold 2014 Equipmag Retail Expo China in Shanghai

With a surface area of 5,400m², Equipmag Retail Expo China will showcase 160 local and international exhibitors and welcome 8,000 buyers from China and other countries.

The event will enable participants to gain an insight into global retail-industry trends while fulfilling the specific needs of retail players based in mainland China. The trade fair is due to take place at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre, in Shanghai, from 15 to 17 October of this year.

Statistics show that China has surpassed Japan in becoming the world’s second largest retail market. The country’s economy is developing rapidly and China is likely to become the Number One global retail market in the world by 2015 or 2016.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the number of retail professionals rose from 45 million in 2008 to 60 million in 2012. The number of operating business units has reached 23 million. In China, the share of GDP represented by the wholesale/retail trade has increased significantly, rising from 8.30% in 2008 to 9.70% in 2012.

This series of marketing figures clearly illustrates the potential and the dynamics of the retail sector in China. Additionally, the decision made by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce to launch the China Free Trade Zone in Shanghai will undoubtedly quicken the pace of development in China’s retail industry.

Equipmag Retail Expo China responds to the sector’s growth in China and will help to educate retail-industry players and raise standards in this dynamic market. The trade fair is co-organised by Comexposium and Diversified Events Hong Kong, the Hong Kong-based unit of Diversified Events.

Thanks to Diversified Events’ experience in hosting Retail Asia Expo (in Hong Kong), and thanks to Comexposium’s track record in organising Equipmag Paris (in France), Equipmag Retail Expo China is bound to attract top retailers and meet the expectations of retail suppliers from across China and the region.
