Fraunhofer IBMT presents its actual spin-off BioKryo GmbH on the Medica 2010
Our customers of biotechnology and pharmaceutics benefit from our cryogenic storage, which they can use to store valuable cell lines as a backup.
On the Medica 2010, BioKryo GmbH will present the System “Lighthouse” for automated identification and registration of cryopreserved samples.
In combination with the intelligent vials from the PermaCryoTechnology GmbH, this system supports e. g. the shipment and logistic of these samples in a cold environment. The documentation of this process occurs automatically in a special database.
Together with other cooperation partners, the BioKryo GmbH additionally provides diagnostic and logistic services like the HLA-typification or worldwide sample shipping.
With cryostorage, using liquid nitrogen, biological samples are stored at a temperature of -150°C. This is the temperature range in which metabolic activities of living cells stop, thus enabling the storage of these cells beyond a human life cycle for later therapeutic use.
