Softwood with increased Hardness and Durability
Softwood with increased Hardness and Durability Scientists at the University of Göttingen developed new compounds and a treatment, wherein domestic softwoods like e.g. Pinus radiata, pine or beech achieve the durability, hardness and stability of top-quality tropical woods. The compounds cross-link under pressure the cellulose fibers inside the wood. Thus the useful properties and performance of tropical woods are achieved, while the treated wood can still be normally processed.
