SERS-Substrate
The technology provides a flexible and reusable
surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate. For this purpose sub-surface-silver nanoparticles are embedded in a glassy matrix. Until now main problems of SERS active substances are oxidation effects that are irrelevant for this new technology. Therefore, soda-lime silicate glass was doped with nanoparticles using thermal ion-exchange techniques. Afterwards, the nucleation and growth of the metal nanoparticles were activated and controlled by exposure to a hydrogen atmosphere followed by annealing. (Raman spectroscopy)
