IDA: Intraoral Data System with Ultrasound Scanner

The miniaturized intraoral ultrasound scanner enables the

precise measurement of the geometry of prepared teeth. The data can be used for the CAD/CAM-production of crowns and bridges. The scan system is mechanically fixed through a bite splint which provides sufficient stability during the scanning process and avoids artefacts through agitation. A detailed 3D-digitalization of the teeth geometry is calculated by additional scanning levels in an angel to the occlusal area. At present, crowns and bridges are produced by use of gypsum plasters which are conventionally casted. In practice, this method needs a lot of time and leads to nonconformities.
