Economic production technology for photovoltaics

For the first time the Fraunhofer IPA will present recent results of the EU project ASPIS to the professional audience. In the last months the project consortium under the coordination of the Fraunhofer IPA developed a first prototype of a new type of concentrator module in which sun tracking and concentrating Fresnel lenses are integrated in an innovative way. In addition, the researchers offer custom-tailored and cost-efficient solutions for handling and automation for various manufacturing processes.

On the subject of laser processes for photovoltaics the Fraunhofer ILT presents a system for structuring materials for thin film solar cells, equipped with an extremely cost-efficient mini laser of the size of a cigarette box. On site, silicon layers on glass substrate are structured to demonstrate the potential of modular processing systems for thin film photovoltaics.

In Fraunhofer IST’s magnetron sputtering system surfaces can be coated with completely new material combinations. For the field of photovoltaics, the specialists from Braunschweig present diverse application examples.
