Lipid implants for controlled release of biotec drugs
The invention is a lipid based implant, produced by screw extrusion. To achieve good extrudability, very homogeneous drug distribution, excellent mechanical strength, sustained release kinetics with a low burst and mainly stable modification of lipids an inventive lipid mixture has to be applied. The mixture is composed of at least 2 lipids, one of them being a high melting, solid lipid and the other a low melting point lipid. Thereby the lipid mixture can contain low
melting lipids in the form of solid, semisold or liquid lipids at room temperature. After adding the drug with a special procedure the mixture is formed into a solid implant by screw extrusion.
