Detection of TSE-induced modifications in the human and animal body

This is a tool for ante-mortem diagnosis of TSE-induced changes in the animal or human body. Samples of body tissue or body fluid are examined by infrared (IR) spectroscopy. The IR spectra of the sample are compared with a reference data bank consisting of IR spectra obtained from healthy material or from pathologically changed tissue samples. Evaluation is carried out using pattern recognition techniques. The technology may be beneficial not only for veterinarian but also clinical use.
