Combined Application of Chimeric toxins and Saponin
Background
Immunotoxins have to be administered in high doses due to low cytosolic uptake with the consequence of severe side effects. An improvement for immunotoxins was the development of a molecular adapter linking the toxic and targeting moiety. Due to cleavable endosomal and cytosolic peptides the adapter mediates cytosolic trapping of the toxin which leads to reduced side effects on non-target dells in vitro.

Technology
We offer a novel combination therapy that comprises the combined administration of individually non-toxic concentrations of a chimeric toxin and the triterpenoid saponin for an enhanced tumor cell-specific cytotoxic effect while non-target cells are not affected at the effective concentration. The combination therapy could be a new tool for the tumor therapy. Main characteristics are: Lower required doses of immunotoxin, High cytotoxity and high specifity, Reduction of undesired side effects.
Benefits:

Tumor-specific targeting and extinction of tumor cells by chimeric toxins

Reduction of undesired adverse effects of systemic applications

Combination with saponins enhances rate of immunotoxin uptake and efficiency of chimeric toxin in target cells

Combined application allows doses reduction of cytotoxic agent and minimize adverse effects without impairing efficacy

Application in cell culture (ex vivo) and in mouse tumor model (in vivo) successfully tested

IP Rights
European Patent Applic.
