Start-up control and speed monitoring of a rail vehicle

In the start-up process of a rail vehicle, for instance when leaving the train platform, it is desirable to achieve a comfortable and yet efficient acceleration of the carriage(s). It Is furthermore essential that the preselected target speed is steadily maintained regardless of the inclination and mute of the track to avoid harmful vibrations or jolts in the carriage train. Speed regulators are frequently used to achieve this Performance. Available regulators however, suffer from instable performance and typically do not account for the diverging mass of the rail vehicle (e.g. due to the different number of carriages. or how they are loaded). The method involves forming a differential speed value from the actual and the targeted speed values.
