Laser pulse generation and modulation

<strong>Background</strong><br>

Exact control of laser pulses is required for a wide variety of applications, particularly in medical devices. Depending on its application the amplitude, phase and/ or polarization of the laser can be modulated.<br><br> <strong>Technology</strong><br> A method and system for generating laser pulses having a predefined amplitude, phase and/ or polarization by using a pulse shaper. The pulse shaper comprises four liquid crystal arrays with one polarizer arranged between two of those liquid crystal arrays. The modulated laser pulses can be coupled into an optical fiber, for example as part of an endoscope. <br><br>
