Highly Optically Transparent Glass Foams
The invention is a novel process for manufacturing highly optically transparent glass foams with an absorption edge in the UV range. The foams are manufactured at low temperatures and high viscosities using a preceramic polymer, a glass powder and one or more glass modifiers, such as borax. The advantages of the process are the optical properties of the glass foams in combination with the rather low manufacturing temperatures.
