MCM Module – Multi-cushion-membrane-module for moisture and heat exchange, e.g. for air-conditioning

Engineers at RWTH Aachen University, Chemical Process Engineering, AVT, have developed a multicushion membrane module (MCM Module) for mass (moisture) and heat exchange for counter current air flow applications.

Very thin, homogeneous membrane layers are first fixed to each other in alternating glue patterns. Decompressed or inflated they form a self supporting regular three-dimensional structure of channels (fig. 1) with excellent heat and mass transfer properties. The invention describes a simple and cheap production method for the MCM Modul without any support or transport fleece.
