New 100 kW inverter power module for B6 standard cuts weight and volume by half

© Photo Fraunhofer IWES New development by Infineon Technologies AG, SUMIDA Components & Modules GmbH and Fraunhofer IWES in Kassel: 100 kW inverter module to B6 standard with 48kHz switching frequency and 50 % less weight and volume.

The resulting development is a new inverter power module with an electrical power of 100 kVA, circuit design to the B6 standard, new silicium carbide (SiC) half bridge modules, new magnetic elements, 48 kHz switching frequency, excellent efficiency of more than 98 % and half the weight and volume of previous inverters.

The project is funded by the German Government with 2.98 million euros. At the international leading exhibition for power electronics PCIM Europe starting today, the new development is presented at Infineon Technologies AG booth 412 in hall 9.
