I-ESA 2018 – Call for Papers

Growing markets, innovative competitors and fast changing technologies make it imminent for companies to interact flexibly with suppliers and consumers. The need for interoperability of enterprises is immense – one reason why I-ESA reaches broader audiences each year it takes place. Next year’s conference is organized by Fraunhofer IPK and will be accomplished at the instute‘s premises in the city center of Berlin.

To interact with others flexibly at low costs is vital for single enterprises to stay competitive in today‘s fast moving globalized economy. Consequently, interoperability of organizations is a major issue in successfully building enterprise networks. Moreover, interoperability will become a key factor when smart services inside organizations and autonomous factories have to cooperate.

Self-organizing production networks will have an enormous impact upon companies and their networks, and require new business models for modelling, testing, executing and managing smart service infrastructures. »Setting standards for business interoperability now is fundamental for the digital transformation and for a successful implementation of Industrie 4.0«, says Professor Eckart Uhlmann, Director of Fraunhofer IPK and host of I-ESA 2018.

Accordingly, the conference joins new business models, smart services, IoT and cloud technologies. Connecting the world‘s leading researchers and practitioners of enterprise interoperability and related domains, including interoperability aspects of enterprise systems and applications, I-ESA will be an outstanding opportunity to exchange experiences and business ideas between researchers, service providers, entrepreneurs and industrial stakeholders.

The program involves research paper presentations, prominent international keynote speakers, a Doctoral Symposium as well as pre-conference workshops. Two days of conference from March 22 to 23, 2018 and additional three days of pre-conference from March 19 to 21, 2018 will provide opportunities not only for businesses to get an insight into models and trends to prevent future crisis, but also for researchers to gain new ideas for research topics.

I-ESA is a conference of INTEROP-Vlab and DFI.

The European Virtual Laboratory for Enterprise Interoperability (I-VLab) is an initiative to develop networked research with critical mass in the Enterprise Interoperability (EI) domain and associated domains (Future Internet and Enterprise Systems Applications). Created on March 2007 as an AISBL (Association Internationale Sans But Lucratif) under Belgian law, I-VLab co-ordinates now more 50 institutions from 11 countries (including China) and over 200 researchers.

The Deutsches Forum für Interoperabilität e.V. (DFI) is a German association for interoperability and represents the German counterpart of the I-VLAB. The objective of DFI is to promote research and education in the field of interoperability of company processes as well as to support communication between science and industry in Germany.
