Invitation to the STI 2013 Berlin

Under the heading “Translational twists and turns: Science as a socio-economic endeavor” the STI 2013 addresses questions of measuring scientific performance and its societal and economic impact. Which techniques, indicators, and benchmarks are appropriate for performance measurement and assessment, what is important when designing and applying them, and how do they affect rewarding and sanctioning in the science system?

80 international scholars selected by peer review are going to present their answers to these questions from September 4 to 6 in Berlin, Germany.

The key topics of the STI 2013 are:

— University assessment, in particular, with regard to competitions for funding, rankings and ratings, benchmarking, performance-based funding systems, and evaluations;

— Individual assessment, in particular, with regard to single scholars, the adequacy and the challenges of indicators and techniques taking into account special disciplinary standards;

— Determining and measuring translation benefits of science.

The complete program is online now! Please visit: http://www.2013.sticonference.org.
