ALTRAN unveils its energy efficiency concepts solutions

The “eco-innovation” is one of the pillars of the environment policy recently adopted by the EU, emphasizing that a “green” product is not enough, but that the product’s life cycle must be energy efficient.

The ALTRAN “eco-innovation” concepts, created especially by the design team of Pr[i]me are:

– The “Living Light” concept, based on the efficient use of electric lightening by detecting the presence of human life in the house.

– The “Leaf Window” concept to reduce pollution in cities and provide cleaner environmental solutions for cleaner air in a building.

– The “Square Compost” concept based on the idea of using the organic waste as fertilizer in a local park. Energetically autonomous thanks to solar energy and a biomethanisation process, “Square Compost” encourages citizens to be more environmentally aware and creates a sense of mutual responsibility.

Participants at the Forum were invited to select one of the three ALTRAN “eco-innovation” concepts; the “Square Compost” concept was voted the most innovative and useful for the society. This concept will be presented in Brussels next February in the ALTRAN Innovation conference to key EU officials and decision makers as well as to industry representatives.

The Ecobuilding Performance Forum is the first European trade exhibition that unites the technical, economic and commercial product offer and service solutions for sustainable and energy efficient building. The Forum attracted over 4,200 visitors and brought together all the innovations in construction, renovation and sustainable management of buildings through a hundred exhibitors from construction industry, energy, environment, regulation, real-estate management and miscellaneous service providers, amongst others.

At the Forum, five companies of the ALTRAN Group, ALTRAN Europe, ASKON, HILSON MORAN, AIT (Automotive, Infrastructure & Transportation) and EILiS (Energy, Industry & Life Sciences) presented their expertise on the improvement of buildings’ energy efficiency, building conception, audit and benchmarking, digital simulation, energy management, studies of concepts and feasibility, infrastructures and the use of renewable energy sources.

The event in Paris provided an excellent opportunity for ALTRAN to share best practice and benchmark innovation ideas for a more efficient built environment for all citizens.

About EcoBuilding Performance Forum:

EcoBuilding Performance Forum took place at the Porte de Versailles in Paris, France, 8 and 9 November 2006.

EcoBuilding Performance is the first European trade exhibition of its kind. It highlights the technical, economic and commercial presentation of products, cross-industry solutions and services that respond to the challenges of energy efficiency in the context of sustainable development.

Rising energy costs, climate change, increasing CO2 and other green-house gas emissions are increasing awareness and concern for health issues, thus provoking interest in a growing number of Europeans in the energy environment. There is also growing awareness of the work needed to improve buildings, their energy efficiency, the energy management, the understanding and promotion of renewable energy sources and the urban and rural environment.
