Intelligent vehicles systems to be tested across Europe

The use of new in-vehicle technologies has the potential to contribute to safer, cleaner and more efficient transport solutions throughout Europe.

Many state-of-the-art systems are currently waiting to be deployed on the market. However, in order to create a proper business case and comply with political decisions, various factors would need to be better assessed and understood. These include the different products markets, user acceptance, and the real-world driving conditions. Then, Public Authorities and Manufacturers will be able to better control the risk factor of bringing these products to the market and identify which aspects of Intelligent Vehicle Systems would benefit best from further development.

euroFOT will identify and coordinate an in-the-field testing of new Intelligent Vehicle Systems with the potential for improving the quality of European road traffic. This permits assessing their effectiveness on actual roads, while determining how they perform towards the intended objectives. The field testing will also offer an early publicity of the technologies, and enable the analysis of the user acceptance and its subsequent potential for market penetration.

A selection of 8 functionalities will be tested in over 1500 vehicles from 11 European OEM brands.
