Planning of wind farms: On the lee or sunny side?

Already in the planning phase of wind farms essential parameters of success – or failure, in most cases based on 20 years of operational life, are laid. Many technical and financial risks are well hidden and first make themselves felt negatively in the long run. Yet they are included in the planning at this early stage.

Successful project development of wind farms take into consideration not only technical planning and legal criteria, but also deal in detail with the efficiency and project due diligence from the viewpoints of the operators, investors and project backers.

The objective of the two-day seminar “Wind Farm Planning and Project Due Diligence” is to enable the participants to recognise the risks, then to evaluate and minimise those risks if not completely eliminate them.

Under the direction of Dr. Ingo Ewald of “D.I.E. – Erneuerbare Energien” (D.I.E. – Renewable Energies) in Mainz, the seminar participants will be introduced to the basic principles and praxis of the development of wind farm projects from site assessment and scrutiny of the requisite permits and contracts to evaluation of wind resources and infrastructures, and the consideration of legal and technical framework.

The seminar “Wind Farm Planning and Project Due Diligence” will be held on 24 – 25 March 2011 at Haus der Technik in Essen and is aimed at project developers, bank staff-members and investors, WT-manufacturers and licensing authorities.

Detailed seminar programme can be acquired from Haus der Technik e.V., tel +49.(0)201.1803 344 (Ms Andrea Wiese), E-Mail: information@hdt-essen.de or over the internet: http://www.hdt-essen.de/htd/veranstaltungen/W-H010-03-400-1.html
