Conference for Intelligent Autonomous Systems (IAV) first time in Germany

For engineers and computer scientists, such vehicles are no longer a vision but a reality that has not yet prevailed. “To the disadvantage for many people”, Professor Paul Plöger is convinced, “a lot of accidents could have been avoided and persons would not have been injured.”

Plöger is a professor for Autonomous Systems in the Department of Computer Science at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS).

Together with his collegues Paul Rojas of the Freie Universität Berlin und Giuseppe Oriolo of the University of Rome, Plöger is a member of this year’s IAV International Program Committee.

The conference will take place from 29 June to 1 July 2016 at Leipziger Messe. International experts for autonomous vehicles will meet at the event that has been taking place every three years since 1993, and will now to take place for the first time in Germany.

Up to 200 participants from all over the world are expected to attend and where around 100 scientific talks will be given. The submissions to the Call of Papers show a wide variety on issues, serving engineers, researchers and young scientists.

Taking place in parallel to the IAV 2016 is the 20th World RoboCup Championship. The participants of both events will work on topics such as navigation and guidance, sensing and perception, communication, cooperation and networking. Professor Plöger’s track will cover the issues Fault Detection and Diagnosis.
