Volker Heine Young Investigator Award given to Christoph Freysoldt from the Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung

With this he is honoured for his outstanding research on ab initio finite-size corrections for electrostatic artifacts in charged-defect supercell calculations.

From initially more than 20 candidates for this prize, five were chosen to present their work in an oral presentation during the workshop.

A commission of internationally renowned scientists were in charge of choosing the winner.

Volker Heine, patron of the prize, was one of the founders of the k community, the European network for scientists working on electronic structure methods. The Volker Heine Young Investigator Award carries a value of 2500€.
