Together with Harvard Business School and INSEAD, ESMT is one of only three business schools honored with two prizes this year. As one of the world’s largest provider of case studies, the Case Centre has recognized outstanding cases since 1991.

Business schools use case studies to demonstrate real business situations and to illustrate theoretical concepts in the classroom.

Dr. Urs Müller and Shirish Pandit, program directors at ESMT, won the “Case Writing Competition Hot Topic: Crisis as Opportunity” category with a case study about Vodafone in Egypt. The case “Vodafone in Egypt: National Crises and Their Implications for Multinational Corporations” focuses on the effects of political upheaval on businesses.

The case study “Anna Frisch at Aesch AG: Initiating Lateral Change” by ESMT program directors Dr. Urs Müller and Ulf Schäfer received the Case Centre Award in Human Resource Management / Organizational Behavior. The study deals with the launch of a marketing initiative and the question of which factors are imperative for successfully implementing change in companies.

Prof. Olaf Plötner, Dean of Executive Education at ESMT, said, “We are delighted that our case studies have once again been recognized by the Case Centre. For us it is important to combine practically relevant case studies and top-class cutting-edge research in the classroom.”
