JLMD system® given thumbs up by Luxembourg seadogs

The JLMD system® has received the backing of the Luxembourg shipping register. Anxious to maintain the quality of the fleet flying its flag, the country is officially supporting JLMD Ecologic Group by backing shipowners wishing to equip their ships with its oil recovery system. Moreover, JLMD Ecologic Group has just been awarded the “Florilège d’Or” (golden award) by the French Académie Nationale d’Encouragement à la Créativité Industrielle (National Academy for the Encouragement of Industrial Creativity).

At the launch of Luxembourg’s second JLMD system®-equipped ship, Mr Marc Glodt, Luxembourg’s Maritime Affairs Commissioner, met French company JLMD Ecologic Group. The company’s pre-installed system is the only one of its kind for recovering pollutants in tankers in the event of accidents. The Luxembourg maritime administration is asking shipowners flying the national flag to consider fitting this system and discussions are in progress with the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy and Foreign Trade to draw up a procedure for promoting installation of the system.

Since marketing began in July 2004, JLMD Ecologic Group has had the wind in its sails: five ships are already equipped with the system and an international network of sales agents has been set up. The systems’s straightforward installation and low cost have led to a steep increase in orders and the company’s declared objective is to have installed 60 JLMD systems® by the end of 2005.

In addition to these promising developments, JLMD Ecologic Group has just been awarded the “Florilège d’Or” (golden award) by the French Académie Nationale d’Encouragement à la Créativité Industrielle (National Academy for the Encouragement of Industrial Creativity). The company is also a finalist in the highly prestigious Lloyd’s List Award 2005 and Seatrade Award 2005 in the “innovation” categories, with the prizes to be awarded on 24 February and 18 April 2005 respectively, in London.
