Predicting Iron Clogging in Water Systems: New Technology Insights
The accumulation of bulky aggregates of iron precipitates in water is a common and natural occurring problem, particularly in hydraulic systems and wells, causing great damage on the system if this phenomenon has not been taken seriously. Scientists at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg have developed a novel method to predict iron clogging in water and hydraulic systems. This new sensor technology is based on electrochemical measurements of ferrous iron activities and can be used as a basis to estimate the potential of ferric hydroxide build-up.
