Microsensor Innovates Gas Measurement in Leaf Photosynthesis
A microsensor with a new type of silicone gasket permits for the first time the direct and continuous determination of gases beyond single stomata of leaves. The gasket, located in the point of an outer micropipette, is highly permeable to gases. An enzyme solution beyond the gasket converts the gas to be measured into an electrolyte. This electrolyte is quantitatively measured by an inner pipette which contains a pH microsensor with a proton selective cocktail. Both micropipettes contain conventional electrodes which are glued together and equipped with a commercially common electrode holder.
