New Efficient Drugs Target Insulin Biosynthesis in Diabetes
Extensive research into the very core of the so-called “lifestyle” disease diabetes mellitus type 2 has enabled the identification of three target proteins and their link to the pancreatic duodenal homeobox-1 protein (PDX-1), crucial for the insulin biosynthesis process. Their identification enables novel ways for research to develop new drugs for influencing the bodily function to produce insulin.
