Leonurus Cardiaca Extract: A New Approach to Antiarrhythmic Therapy
Therapy with antiarrhythmic drugs is often limited by the adverse effects of these compounds, including the possibility of increased mortality and inadequate efficiency. Therefore, it is a need to search for new substances, possibly allowing to separate the pro- and antiarrhythmic actions of this class of drugs. Since the middle ages the plant Leonurus cardiaca is known to be effective against tachyarrhythmias. We designed an extract of Leonurus cardiaca, which could be used as antiarrhythmic drug and for improvement of coronary perfusion.
