The invention allows reconstructing the shape of a droplet with the help of reflections of a light source. Hereby, the contact angle between the droplet and the substrate as well as the droplet volume and other parameters can be determined. Through a vertical view many droplets can be captured automatically and synchronously. The procedure simplifies the conventional determination of wettability parameters of new surfaces and can be applied wherever many droplets need to be captured and analyzed at the same time.
Especially infections by multi-resistant bacteria are more and more common and have developed into a major health concern in many facilities around the world. The present invention relates to a method for the preparation of a strain-adapted vaccine specific for a bacterial strain based on OMVs.
Medical implants are widely being used in orthopaedics and in modern dentistry. While significant progress has been made to improve the production of implants using the most advanced materials and technologies, there is still need for additional strategies to improve and accelerate osseointegration. The improper integration of the implant material in the living bone can impair the healing process and limit the freedom of movement thereby rendering the implant useless.
The invention provides a multilayer bio-nanocoating
to improve significantly the adhesion of osteoblasts to the implant, which is shown in Fig.2. The applied bio-nano-coating is tightly connected to the implant and at the same time ensures flexibility of the molecular layers. Further the bio-nano-coating enables the native
conformation of embedded molecules, e.g. of fibronectin. Data from animal models are available for dental applications.
In summary, the invention comprises medicinal
implants with biofunctional coating, which will greatly reduce the incidence of periimplantitis and other complications related to the insufficient adhesion of the tissue to the implant.
The presented invention describes a method for increasing the efficiency of solar cells of so-called hot carrier at more than 30% by the rapid separation of hot electrons and holes in each band prior to cooling. The object is solved by the use of a specially adapted for this purpose, a double hetero structure which has never been used for the separation of the hot carrier in a hot carrier solar cell.
The invention relates to processes for the oligomerization of olefins, in particular of ethene, which are catalyzed by the complexes or catalyst systems in accordance with the invention.
This technology allows a cell manipulation system that is easy to manufacture, and the manipulation yields more reproducible results.
