The present invention relates to novel monovettes for the haemolysis-poor transport of blood specimens under the harsh conditions observed in modern Pneumatic Tube Systems. Commonly used monovettes passively accept a certain dead-volume due to trapped air. This enclosed air allows the blood sample to be shaken during transport, leading to haemolysis and – eventually – falsification of the measured blood parameters. By a relatively simple structural modification, the described dead-volume – and thus the inclusion of air – can easily be circumvented, allowing for a now haemolysis- poor transport of blood specimen even under the Pneumatic Tube Systems transport conditions.
