Identifying Active Substances for Contact Allergy Treatment
Approximately 65 million people in Europe suffer from nickel hypersensitivity
and develop an allergic contact dermatitis upon skin contact with nickel-containing metal alloys as for example in jewelry, watches, piercings and coins. The new method allows the identification as well as functional characterization of active substances usable for the treatment of contact allergies which are caused by a hypersensitivity to the metals (Ni2+) or cobalt (Co2+).
