Innovative Tech Advancements in Technical Textiles and Composites

“Fibre-reinforced polymer composites in automobile manufacturing – challenges for the future” is the title of the opening lecture to be given by Dr. Olaf Täger from the Volkswagen Group’s Research Department at the 13th Chemnitz Textile Technology Conference (CTT).

The international conference dedicated to the issue of “Value Creation Opportunities with Textile Technology” will take place at Chemnitz University of Technology on 14 and 15 March 2012.

Other lecturers at the plenary sessions will include Prof. Dr. Chokri Cherif from Dresden University of Technology and Prof. Lothar Kroll from Chemnitz University of Technology, who will speak on “Developing manufacturing technologies suitable for use in large-scale production environments for complex fibre-reinforced polymer composite components”; they will illustrate the need for action in order to fully exploit the lightweight design potential of textiles and fibre-reinforced polymer composites.

More than 50 speakers in all will present the latest expertise from industrial companies and research institutes. The subject areas are “Resource Efficient Machines and Processes”, “Finishing and Functionalization”, “Process and Structure Simulation”, “Procedures for Process Controls and Tests,” “Semi-Finished Products and Preform Technologies” and “Composites in Lightweight Design”.

The 13th Chemnitz Textile Technology Conference therefore provides a cross-sector platform for presenting results and sharing experiences related to the complementary process stages in various manufacturing chains. www.chemtextiles.de
