Malaga company Decasat has devised a technology pioneer in Spain for town halls to detect non- programmed town-planning changes or changes that are not included in their respective local town-planning scheme.

’It is a software that automatically analyses the satellite photographs of the plots where a construction is going to be built. The system allows a periodical monitoring of the constructions so that Town Halls can control and supervise the whole process, explained Roberto Muñoz. the managing director of the company.

Comfortable monitoring.

Also, this practical software prevents engineers from going to the area where buildings are being built to control any possible town-planning irregularities that may take place in different towns.

However, the software will not only be used to ensure sustainable development, but also to supervise the variations of the coastline as a result of erosion, illegal constructions or any other factor that may directly affect the coast. Likewise, by means of this technological device, it is possible to control the resources of a mine in a certain period of time.

Moreover, this monitoring system can also be used in the agricultural sector. The treatment of satellite images offers information about the identification and management of crops in order to have a higher control of the productivity. Farmers will automatically have information about the crop to be collected and whether or not it has been affected by a pest infestation or a plague that can endanger the plantation.

Another application of this technology focuses on the prevention of forest fires. Indeed, the acquisition of images from the same area in different times is an ideal way to monitor and identify any changes in the vegetation. This information, together with the data about the meteorology, allows to obtain a system that detects fire risks.

Decasat has already sent its project to different town halls all over Andalusia, which has allowed a fast development of this company. Decasat is formalising today an agreement with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Malaga on a campus project; its aim is to become an economic incentive for the company to make products related to investment and research.
