How are Europe’s landscapes influenced by the changing energy sector?

Europe’s landscapes are being transformed by the growth in renewable energies and the ongoing exploitation of fossil fuels such as lignite and shale gas. The international conference “Energy Landscapes:

Perception, Planning, Participation and Power” organised by the Landscape Research Group will focus on the perception of these developments as well as on ways to influence them.

The conference will be held in Dresden from 16 to 18 September 2015.

The call for papers has been published on the conference website (http://lrg2015.ioer.info), where suggested topics for English-language presentations can be submitted until 28 February.

Early-stage researchers are also encouraged to contribute.

The conference is organised by the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development in cooperation with the Technische Universität Dresden and three other partners.

The target audience are students in this field as well as working scientists and practitioners. Keynote addresses will be held by prominent researchers in the field of energy and landscapes such as Maarten Wolsink from the University of Amsterdam/the Netherlands, Patrick Devine-Wright from the University of Exeter/UK as well as Don Mitchell from Syracuse University/USA.
