Measurement System for Early Diagnosis of Metal Endoprostheses Relaxation

Implantable measuring system for early relaxation detection of metallic endoprotheses: The measuring system registers a relative movement between bone and endoprosthesis. Checks on the correct prosthesis position are performed in vitro. The measuring system works continuously with long-term stability. The early detection of the relaxation of the hip prosthesis (in the range from the 10 to 20 micrometers of gap development) can identify unfavorable systems early, save x-ray examinations or facilitate re-fixing processes by immediate, early therapeutic measures and minimize subsequent operations.
