The embedded PC for motion control is free of wear parts and moving parts such as hard disks and fans. Monitoring functions for the batteries, temperature and program execution are included. LEDs on the front indicate the operating states and thus make self-diagnosis easy.

The integrated power supply bridges temporary power failures. In the buffered SRAM memory, the process data is saved securely even in the event of a sudden voltage drop. The Windows Embedded Standard 2009 operating system, which increases the reliability of the system, as well as the Simotion runtime system are preinstalled. Three onboard interfaces support communication over Profinet, the open Industrial Ethernet standard.

Simotion P320-3 also has an Ethernet interface (10 / 100 / 1000 Mbit), one DVI and four USB interfaces for connecting a keyboard, USB stick and printer. The embedded PC can be used “headless”, i.e. without a display, monitor or front panel. A display or monitor can, however, be optionally connected through the integral DVI interface.
