Bioactive pre-tubulysins and use thereof
Pre-tubulysin was already claimed as a hypothetically common preliminary stage of tubulysins in 2004. Now it is available by synthesis and can be used for increasing the output of tubulysin production by implementing it in tubulysin producing hosts. Besides the possibility to obtain tubulysin by biotransformation of pre-tubulysin, the later shows high biological activity by itself and therefore might be useful in cancer therapy as an self-contained agent.
