Indoor navigation for mobile radio units by means of leaky feeder
Determining the positions of mobile phones is relatively unproblematic outside. This is easily possibly through the triangulation of three emitters or through GPS. The localization of the mobile phone within buildings is considerably more difficult. The GPS signal is received weakly or not at all. The triangulation of emitters is imprecise due to reflections or attenuation of the signals by walls or magnet boards.
The present development solves this problem using leaky feeders. These are able to be mounted in corridors or rooms.
By feeding the emitted signal directly into the leaky feeder, the position of mobile phones or other mobile radio units is able to be determined very easily and precisely.
Simultaneously, an amplification of the reception and, thus, an improvement of the communication of the mobile radio units are able to be achieved by means of leaky feeders.
