Diabetes is, after arterial hypertension, the 2nd most common disease in industrialized countries. Identification of markers for the prediction of the clinical course of diabetic nephropathy is a major challenge in disease management. Scientists at the University of Göttingen identified several novel biomarkers in urine for the diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy.
