From 1st to 24th of March, 2006, the application forms to participate in the second INFOBIOMED Training Challenge will be opened. This is an innovative training experience organized by the Network of Excellence INFOBIOMED.

This training meeting, that will take place in Viladrau (Barcelona, Spain) from the 29th May to the 2nd of June 2006, will gather 2 groups of 5 students with different backgrounds (bioinformatics, medical informatics, biology, medicine, chemistry, etc.) who will be working together in a case study that can benefit from an integrative approach.

In doing so, the objective is to promote the exchange of views and the dialogue between disciplines. This is key for the future development of biomedical informatics, in the context of a specific research problem, to help focus the effort towards a tangible target.

Pharmainformatics will be the broad theme of this edition. Each student is required to submit a motivated case study upon application and among the case studies proposed, the organizing committee will select one case study per group, according to the potential it offers for cross-discipline approaches.

Students will be actually lodged in a hotel in Viladrau, 80 km away from Barcelona, so that they can ’live’ for a week on a research-driven environment and they can develop their interdisciplinary potential as much as possible. The student expenses will be covered by the INFOBIOMED project. Students coming from European organisations are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is 24th of March 2006.
