Medical device manufacturers from Europe and Asia are popular suppliers of components in the USA

For the sixth time in a row, the IVAM Microtechnology Network was part of the trade show by presenting the special exhibition area “Micro Nanotech”, where international high-tech component manufacturers were bundled.

Micro Nano Tech-Area showed various innovations

Both companies and research institutes took the opportunity to showcase their products and services to the international audience.

The product variety on-site ranged from high-end chip-level technologies, microfluidic cartridges, precision motors and the world's smallest digital camera to neuroimplants, innovative catheters, micro-molding solutions and state-of-the-art implants design to a compact device for emergency and lifesaving trainings. Several exhibitors presented miniaturized pumps that can dispense extremely tiny amounts of liquid with high precision.

“America First”? Decisions are made pragmatically according to economic interests

The MD&M West 2019 was a successful exhibition for the IVAM exhibitors. They described both the quantity and the quality of the leads as excellent.

IVAM Managing Director Thomas Dietrich was extremely satisfied with the way the fair went: “After the announcement of an America-First policy by the US government, there were, concerns if the United States would remain an attractive market for international medical device companies.

However, our local experience shows that these worries were unnecessary. Export-oriented countries such as Germany and Japan, but also other European countries, are still welcome suppliers of high-tech products. Decisions are made pragmatically according to economic interests.”

In addition to the officially organized appointments during the exhibition, the networking events, this year for example a happy hour and a networking dinner, have proven to be extremely important for establishing and maintaining contacts between international companies.
