Load and Capacity Estimation of Telecommunication Networks

This invention allows carrying out precise estimation of load and capacity of a telecommunication network being independent of internal configurations of an existing system. The process is compliant with the existing IP header definitions.

Exceptional feature of the technique is the usability of two different marking algorithms for load estimation. The markers are dependent of the given header type of the data packet to be send. Internal resources of the system are barely involved for load estimation, as well as the capacities of the nodes and links of the system can be unknown. At the exit nodes of the network, counted marker are differentiated by paths and put into an equation. As a result, the relative load of the overall system is defined as well as of the individual path.
