Number of habilitations down 5% in 2013
he Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of habilitations fell by almost 5% on a year earlier.
It even decreased by as much as 32% compared with the all-time high of 2002.
For three decades the average age of academics at the time they complete the habilitation procedure has been approximately 40 years.
In the reference year of 2013 they were 41.1 years on average.
