Otonomy Aviation’s wireless security system flies high to Aircraft Interiors

PARABELLUM® is a video security system for parked aircraft, which is fully DO 160-qualified. The system integrates the CAMHD® range of 1080 HD cameras, which offer entertainment services for business jets.

PARABELLUM® provides a comprehensive security perimeter – any motion, intrusion or impact will trigger an alarm. A dedicated camera records video of the area and allows the operator to view the footage from any remote computer or smart phone through the GSM/3G network, or via an optional satellite connection. Embedded proprietary motion-detection software provides the lowest false alarm rate available on the market.

The PARABELLUM® system is based upon six components. The PARABELLUM VCCU (Video Control and Communication Unit) represents the next generation of video control and communication systems, while the CAMHD-4S is a fully integrated airborne camera and motion-detection unit.

The WISE-PIR, a wireless motion-detection sensor, is located in the landing gear-wheel well, and will prevent any intrusion or object deposition thanks to its 180° coverage area. The WISE-SENS is composed of wireless doors and panel reed switch sensors, which are similar to traditional reed switch sensors, but are completely wireless.

The PARABELLUM CTI (Control Touch-screen Interface) is a cabin-mounted smart LCD touch-screen interface, which monitors the entire PARABELLUM security system. Finally, the CAMHD®-1 is a HD 1080 camera. The CAMHD-1, which can be tail- or belly-mounted, is a high-definition camera (up to 1080i), which is especially designed for aerospace applications. Its multi-format video output fits most common IFE installation methods – Ethernet, SD/HD-SDI, Composite or DVI. Its heated sapphire window provides high-quality images and a 92° standard horizontal field of view. Thanks to its multimega pixel sensors, different image ratios are also available, including 16/9 and 21/9. An internal illumination regulator allows the device to operate both in low light (up to 0.1 lux) and in high brightness.

Thanks to its wireless features and battery life of more than 30 days, PARABELLUM® is both lighter and less expensive to install than similar systems. PARABELLUM® weighs less than 5kg, as compared to other systems on the market, which usually weigh more than 15kg.

About Otonomy Aviation SAS

Otonomy Aviation, which is headquartered in Bordeaux (south-western France), is a leading specialist in embedded aircraft security thanks to its flagship PARABELLUM® video security system. PARABELLUM® has advanced technical features (security, video and RF) and offers both security features (intelligent video motion analysis based on a high detection level), and entertainment features (video of flight phases screened to passengers in the cabin).

Otonomy Aviation’s patented system for the aerospace industry is DO160/ DO178-qualified and is delivered with an EASA Form 1. The company provides full support and maintenance (PART 145) through its partner’s network.

Otonomy Aviation will be part of the French Pavilion at Aircraft Interiors, which will take place in Hamburg (in northern Germany) from 18 to 20 May 2010 (Stand 6B56I).
