An ultrasonic transducer assembly for testing material structures
The invention addresses the constructional change of the ultrasonic transducer.
The core of the invention is the use of a layer of low acoustic impedance (porous structure) and thus the absence of the damping body. The novelty of the present invention lies in the flexibility of the constructional design of the entire modified ultrasonic transducer and the significant reduction of overall dimension this entails. Through the use of a polyethylene case or a corresponding structural design of the layer with low acoustic impedance, the invention obtains the required mechanical stability. Furthermore the invention puts an end to the occurrence of overlapping and interference effects due the new design.
