Tailored blank from structured sheet metal 'Structured Tailored Blank'

The invention describes a structured tailored blank as a semi-finished part made by joining flat and structured blanks together or by joining structured blanks exclusively to each other. The structured blanks are regularly ordered honeycomb stiffening elements without flat sections and are parted from each other by ridges. The blanks can be put together in various ways, for instance by soldering and welding. The flat and structured blanks can have various thicknesses or be made of various materials. The amount of stiffness or weight reduction needed in specific cases can be achieved through choosing the right thickness, material or structure.

The structured tailored blanks can be used especially in the fields of motor vehicles, cars, railway vehicles and aerospace.
