Solar Cell with Local Electric Fields

The basic principle of all solar cells is the spatial separation of paired photoinduced charge carriers in a photoactive region. Common photovoltaic planar modules are made of solar cells that are laterally extended on a macroscopic scale and composed of various materials (semiconducting sandwich structures for the laminar photoactive region and metallic conductors for the external electrodes).
