A receptor-dead mutein of bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2)
A new receptor-dead BMP-2 mutein L51P has been created that has no detectable BMP activity. Surprisingly, the BMP-2 L51P mutein exhibits an unaltered binding affinity for BMP modulator proteins of the Noggin, Chordin and DAN families. In cell culture experiments the mutein has been demonstrated to efficiently neutralize Noggin activity.
